i have a car that i can have given to me it is about 5 years old but cant aford the first years car insurance out right if i sell it and gt a cheaper car will the insurance be cheaper or more expensive because it is an older car? i say this because if so i can sell the car i have and use the money left over to pay for the first ears car insurance. p.s i am a teenage driver which is why im trying to save as much money as i can!
Can you still be on your parents' insurance? We always put our kids on the cheapest, oldest car we owned, to lower their premium. Getting insurance as a familly group was a lot cheaper. Can you get a Good Student discount? State Farm does that if you take a short course and have good grades in school.
There's a possibility your rates would be lower on a cheaper car because it's not as expensive to fix; also you can have a higher deductible or lower collision coverage if it's an old, run-down car.
I am 18 and just bought a Nissan Altima 08. I live in California, Los Angeles. I am trying to get insured and they want to charge me $3000 a year. Thats $250 a month for car insurance. Its more then my car payments. Anyone know any insurance company that can offer a better deal?
Cheap and 18 is an oxymoron. Add CA to the mix and it gets worse. Then factor in an almost new car…
If you live at home, get added to your parents insurance. If you don't, talk to an independent agent to see if you can do any better.
I'm living in a busy area where theres alot of traffic and cars, i wanna give my dads address because it much more quiter there, ive heard you can nock back sum money if its in a quiter area and not much traffic. Any ideas or is that jus made up. or is there any other ways where i can reduce my car insurance.
Sure, you can do that, but it constitutes fraud. If you get caught, you could be in some mighty big trouble.
And I mean car insurance that you don't have to pay over 100 dollars for.
Typically, insurance rates will vary from State to State and can even vary by ZIPCODE! It also will depend on the type of car/truck, coverages, limits of liability, and driving record. Some companies run credit scores and MOST run a motor vehicle report and CLUE (Comprehensive Loss Underwriting Exchange) report to see about undisclosed accident involvement.
The best thing to do is call a LOCAL independent agent. Don't go across town, or to some other city - look for someone CLOSE. Just look in the phone book for the PIA or Big I (Trusted Choice) logos and you will find a professional licensed agent that will be able to help you solve your insurance problems, and give you rate comparisons of several different companies.
An independent insurance agent will normally have a dozen different companies and if he cannot help you, he should be networked with other local agents that can.
In my agency, we have companies that do NOT run a credit score and welcome drivers with "less than perfect" driving records.
Most of the replies on this site say "go to this on-line carrier or that on-line carrier or that 1-800 number" but I'm sure that when you do, you will find some impersonal computer user with a script to work from and you won't be able to talk with the same person every time you have a problem!
Good luck, drive RESPONSIBLY and I hope this helps!
I have heard that if i buy a classic car, my insurance will be cheaper, is this true? And do you have any tips for getting it as low as possible
take the pass plus that will save you a few quid and shop about and hope your not in a high car crime area
I have no accidents or tickets. My husband has 1 accident where he was NOT at fault. We are getting OUTRAGEOUS quotes on insurance for the one vehicle we have which is an 11 year old 4 cyl. SUV. I am a stay-at-home mom & my husband drives approx. 10 miles to work a day. We are at a loss as to why the premiums we are being quoted are so high. We do have a small loan on the vehicle so we need more than just basic liability. Does anyone know of or have good, cheap insurance that you can hook me up with? Thanks!
I would try your state's Farm Bureau Insurance company. My husband used them until we got married, and you don't have to be a farmer to use their products. (I think more people don't use them because they assume you have to be a farmer!) They offer EXCEPTIONALLY low rates.
Also, there are websites on the internet such as:
http://www.progressive.com
that allow you to compare car insurance premiums. If you want to save time, you can use a service like this. However, I would almost guarnatee they will not give you the cheapest rates. I would call their competitors personally to get the best rates.
Another option would be to call your insurance and ask them to review your premium for cost savings. If they refuse, tell them you have found a cheaper rate and wish to cancel your premium. (This usually lights a fire under their hind end and will cause them to do whatever they can to maintain your business.)
You can get a better rate. Your driving record is good, and it sounds like you are established. Just do some shopping. Good luck!
